Outreach
HSSA has a strong commitment to assisting all of our communities – the Hindu Community, the wider Indian community, the community local to our Temple complex, the Adelaide/South Australian Community, and others. As such, we have a wider range of support programs with linkages into the wonderful tapestry of communities in which we live.
To volunteer to be part of our support providers, please visit our Volunteers page, or to donate to one of our special causes, please visit our Donations page.
MarionLife Community Services
MarionLIFE Community Services is local to our Temple Complex and is a not-for-profit community organisation that provides meaningful, flexible and responsive care, support and pathways to individuals and families in need. They help people who are dealing with unemployment, homelessness, mental health issues, family breakdowns and other struggles. Each year over 2,000 people from Adelaide’s Inner Southern suburbs come through their door in crisis.
HSSA has been a long-time supporter of MarionLife, collecting and donating non-perishable food items, toiletries, hygiene products, new blankets and clothing. Non-monetary donations for MarionLife can be left at Shri Ganesha Temple Complex in the box provided in the Social Hall.
Monthly Meal
Each month a mid-day Indian vegetarian meal is provided free of charge to all in need and those worshipping or working at the Temple on that day. It is a wonderful time of community, connection, support and opportunity. We are especially working to support new arrivals and international students who often feel isolated and are struggling under the impact of the COVID restrictions.
To donate towards the Monthly Meal program, visit the Donations Page.
International Students and New Arrivals
International students and immigrants have been one of the most affected group during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have provided food parcels to those who have contacted us, irrespective of nationality or religion. This program has been an inspiration to all involved, both recipients and providers.

Vinnies
Periodically we participate in programs to assist St. Vincent de Paul’s to provide blankets and clothing for the homeless in Adelaide. They provide warmth, food and a safe place to sleep for the most disadvantaged in our communities. Our involvement with them is particularly important at the moment. Please keep in touch via our social media pages and for information about our next Vinnies Drive.
Assistance for those in India Impacted by the Covid-19 Crisis
We have raised over $10,000 to assist with the situation in India, with the donations provided to Sewa International and the Ramakrishna Mission.
Bushfire Appeal
In early 2020 we raised money to assist those impacted by the bushfires in South Australia. Just over $6,000 was raised in total, with some going to the Kangaroo Island appeal and the remainder to the State Emergency Relief Fund.
Nepal Earthquake Appeal
Likewise, we raised money to assist those in Nepal impacted by the terrible earthquakes in that country.
